Water Piano With Pinoo Minoo

Project Purpose: To make a water piano project using alligator cables with the Pinoo Minoo card.

Duration: 2 lessons

Age Group: 7 years and older

Benefits:

Materials to be used: Scratch 2 program, Pinoo Minoo card, mini USB cable, alligator cables

 

 


Materials Required for the Design: 6 cardboard cups, acrylic paint, water

 

 

 

 

 

Project Preparation:

 

1. For our project, let's start with the design of the cardboard cups.

 

 We paint cardboard glasses with acrylic paints.

 

  We write the notes we will use on it.

 

(These notes are piano notes in the scratch program)

 

 We fill the glasses with water.

 

 We attach alligator cable wires to the W-A-S-D-F-G keys of the Pinoo Minoo board.

  

 We place 6 crocodile cables that we attach to the keys into the glasses.

  

 We attach 1 crocodile cable to the earth part of the Pinoo Minoo card.

 

 

 

  We plug the USB cable into the Pinoo Minoo card and the computer.

 

2. Coding part:

 

If you have not downloaded the scratch program, you can download the scratch program and Adobe AIR for your operating system from the link below.

When you download it, we open the program by clicking the logo below on your desktop.

 

  To delete the cat puppet that we will not use first, we click the right mouse button on it and click the ‘delete’ option from the Options.

 

 In the stage at the bottom left of the screen, we click on the first option from the new decor section, select the decor from the library.

 

 

 

 We choose the music and dance category from the left in the area that opens. Then we select the stage2 decor and click the OK button.

 

 To add puppets from the new puppet area, we click on the first option, select the puppet from the library.

 

 

 In the opened area, we select the ‘Singer1’ dummy from the ‘people’ category on the left and click the OK button.

 

 We place the puppet we added to a place we want on the stage.

 


To add a new puppet, we click on the option to select the puppet from the library from the new puppet area.

 

 In the area that opens, we select the Piano-Electric puppet from the ‘music’ category on the left and click the OK button.

 

 We place the puppet we added to a place we want on the stage.

 

 
With the piano puppet selected, we click on the Sounds tab at the top of the screen. We can see the sounds inside the piano puppet.

 

 

 

 We click on the ‘cross on the sounds’. We erase all the voices in it. We will add new sounds.

  To add a new sound, we click on the option to ‘’select the sound from the library’’.

 

 In the area that opens, we select the ‘A piano sound’ from the ‘musical notes category’ on the left and click the OK button.

 With this method, we add 6 piano notes.

 

 With the piano puppet selected, we click on the Series tab at the top.

 

 

 When the space key is pressed from the Events tab, we place the code block in the code section with drag and drop method. We change the spacebar with the key "a".

 

 We take the play your voice code block from the Sounds tab and place it under the code block when the key is pressed in the code section with the drag and drop method. We change it to A piano sound.

 

 

 When the A key is pressed, we click the right mouse button on the code block and click the Copy option from the opened field.

 

We change the key and sound values.

 

 Now, when the d key is pressed, we click the right mouse button on the code block and click the copy option from the opened field.

 

  We change the key and sound values.

 

 We encode other key and sound values ​​with the same method. There will be 6 keys and sound values ​​in total.

 

3. Working State of the Project:

 In the project we have done, you need to hold the crocodile cable attached to the ground with one hand and touch the water in the glass with the other hand.

   Different notes will play in each glass. You can find a song note and play it if you want.
